    Suggestion

Post by LHUSBY on Sun Mar 02, 2014 8:07 pm

I would like to suggest a podcast on " When, where and why we should interfere and engage?" Some people say your gun is for your own and loved ones safety. Gather your people and get out! But how a person like myself, who spent 16 years in the military and police, can watch someone shooting innocent people and do nothing? Our action will be always judged by others. But to some interfering is just natural. It would be interesting to hear from you guys on this subject. Maybe you would be able to bring Rob Pincus back for a quick input on this. Thanks.

I understand your thoughts; I spent 24 years Military and Police. I agree this would make a great podcast.
    I see three layers
The “Wolf” Bad People doing bad things
The “Sheepdog” Good People fighting for those they love.
And the “Defender” “Sheepdogs” that take on a duty to protect any and every one.

Most hate and fear the “Wolf”
Many hate and fear the “Sheepdog”

I have always had the "Sheepdog" mindset. I'll do whatever possible to remove myself and family from a bad situation......but if trouble follows us out, I'll do what I must to stop it.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Doc, you might be talking for months on this subject.

Just a quickie. Over on MSW there is a great post about May and Must. As noted there, those can be confusing ideas within the overall self defense concept.

As pointed out there, the prevailing concept is that you do NOT have to be openly engaged by a BG. You have to have a reasonable sense that you or some other innocent is in danger from the BG. So when the issue comes to a head -- shoot and live!

For some reason I can't seem to either link to the article nor post the URL here, so if any are interested in reading it, go to Modern Service Weapons site (I believe it's MSW.com) and look for the Steve Harris posting of 3/6/2014.
