I'm Writing a Blog: Not One More Gun Law

Post by Charlie Foxtrot on Fri Jun 13, 2014 1:41 pm

As this is a Full Moon Friday the Thirteenth, It seems perfect for announcing a bad decision:

My foray into gun blogging: Not One More Gun Law

This effort was inspired by Richard Martinez, the feckless father of a murdered UCSB student. He used the bloody shirt of his dead son to publicly rant against guns, not the killer nor his enablers; screeching out the vapid demand "Not One More!" The performance looked insipid, out of place, over the top and perhaps pre-programmed. And totally reflective of the message of the media, intelligentsia, and ruling elite.

I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part. And I was just the guy to do it. Hence, the Not One More Gun Law blog. As the tagline "The Philosophy Behind the Trigger" implies, I hope to examine the issues of self defense, an armed populace, an active populace, the 2nd Amendment, and perhaps counter some of the shallow thoughts that rattle around the body politic. The discussions are intended to be short and to the point. I find many times these discussion stretch out to pages of test, and frankly few have time for that.

I invite you to take a look at the blog. Be vicious with your criticism. If it sucks, point it out! (Well, we know it sucks - now.) If it irredeemably sucks, point it out! Provide your recommendations. If my time is better spent perusing Care Bear porn, say it!

Thank you, I'll be under my bed.

Thanx, Doc. I wonder what the Professional Gun Writers will say. I look forward to the derision

But, please don't tell me there is such a thing as Care Bear porn.

I wrote that to indicate something completely, utterly worthless. Now -- it's really creeping me out.

    I like it.

Please note that the bereaved father never ONCE looked to himself as potentially the source of his son's problems. I would bet that both he and his wife, good SoCal movie people, thought that you have a child, then just give him "stuff" and all is well. So he had a Beemer, flew 1st class to some concert in Europe, and generally was very well off. Far better than I ever was at his age, and I don't consider that I was either poor or scraping for pennies. When I got married we had a lot less than he. Yet his "obsession" was to get laid in college - as it that's a valid goal for going to school.

This was one sick puppy, and his parents are at least guilty to some degree. They should be looking more at themselves and less at inanimate objects. I noted the father said NOT ONE WORD - about knives, which junior used to kill THREE PEOPLE! And the car he killed at least one person. Guess we need to pick our inanimate objects to villify.

Thanx, Dev -- We'll see how long this lasts. I've always liked to write - but damn, it's time consuming.

The Isla Vista tragedy has several bad actors. As you said, the parents have earned a large amount of the blame. Despite the kid's decades of adverse diagnoses, they kept him out of mental hospitals and as a result unmedicated.

Richard Martinez continues to draw my ire. I feel deeply for the loss of his son, but he is acting as if he was a wholly owned subsidiary of Bloomberg.

But it's DiFi, Babs Boxer and all their me-too sycophants that are really chafing my Scot. Their "Turn In Your Neighbor" bills are a chest-clutching negation of the Constitution. As you can read in my latest post. Wink http://notonemoregunlaw.blogspot.com/2014/06/turn-in-your-neighbors-bills.html

"Best Places to Buy Lots and Lots of New Springs to Maintain Your 1911".

Harsh, TJ. Just harsh. You crush my world (I only have 13 - not nearly enough for a "collection").

Sorry Dev. That was cruel and insensitive of me. Perhaps instead the title of the potential article should be something more like this:

"1911 Springs - A Small Price To Pay for Owning America's Sidearm."

Naw - don't look good in long, carelessly flowing locks.

And I don't think there's any call for another gun blob. Or any more "What Top 10 Guns To Keep With You in Your Mom's Basement" linkerbation.  I've always been more interested in why we SHOULD keep and bear arms. Get away from arguing all the statistics and get to the moral, philosophical and practical reasons for remaining armed. I think that's how we win.

That being said -- I'm at the "What the @#$% did I just do?!?!?" stage.

It was, sir. It really was. A sensitive person of my ilk has a hard time getting past such comments.
