Anybody tried the 'plinker tactical' branded mags before? So far I have only stuck with the factory mags.

I benchrested my M&P 15-22 and zeroed my red-dot. Several weeks later I took a group to the range and the rifle was shooting 1.5" low freestanding at the same range. No known knocks to the scope. Readjusted the red-dot. Next trip to the range I benchrested it - and I was shooting 1.5" high. Wuuuuuuut?

Anyone else seen this type of variability? I'm about to take the upper apart and check the torque on the barrel nut. (Special tool required.) Almost afraid to sling it up for precision shooting.

Other that that it's a great rifle.

What ammo were you using? What red-dot? What distance was it zeroed/sighted in at?

Federal 36gn bulk, Bushnell Trophy 28mm, 25 yards.

The benchrest range (1st - 3rd) was in the high desert, the freehand range near sea level - but I can't believe that is the difference at 25 yards.

Someday I'll have the time - and the 22 - to do more testing.

Interesting... I am not sure why the point of impact would change that much with just an elevation change shooting at a distance of 25 yards. I think more testing is in store, eh? I do admit that my 15-22's never get bench rested when shot. Mostly they are used by my kids or by me at about 35 yards doing duels on the dueling tree. I have an eotech on mine, and it seems like it always hits where it is aimed and is quite good at flipping steel paddles. I love how easy they come apart for cleaning and how well they feed ammo.

?Why would you think a free hand held rifle would shoot the same POI as one on bags. I would actually be surprised that they did. What seems to be true is that it's consistent.
